Frequently asked questions

Before you
get started.

Planning a renovation brings plenty of questions. Here are a few we can help with before you get started. For advice about your own home, you’re always welcome to call.

What work do you take on?

We take on whole-house renovations, additions, general contracting, and new home construction, as well as kitchens, bathrooms, basement development, and structural alterations. Our work also includes painting, siding, Hardie board, stone, and concrete.

Do you work outside Edmonton?

We serve Edmonton and the surrounding area. Include the property’s location when you contact us so we can confirm whether we can take on the work there.

Do I need drawings or a finished design before calling?

No. An idea and a conversation are enough to get started. Tell us what you’d like to change and what isn’t working for you now. If you have drawings, measurements, or inspiration photos, we’d be happy to look at them.

Can you tell me what my renovation will cost?

We’ll need to understand the space and the work before giving you an estimate. After an initial call, we offer a free home visit to discuss your plans. If you have a budget in mind, share it with us so it can be part of that conversation.

How long will the work take?

That depends on the scope, the sequence of trades, and the materials involved. A finish update and a renovation that changes the layout are very different jobs. Tell us about any deadline when you first get in touch so we can discuss timing before you make plans around it.

Can I stay in the house during the renovation?

It depends on which rooms are affected and what you need access to each day. Tell us if you plan to stay at home, work from home, or need to keep a bathroom or kitchen available. These are things to discuss while planning the job.

Do you take on repairs and smaller jobs?

Yes. Our work ranges from painting and repairs to complete house renovations. Send us a description of what needs doing and a few photos if you have them.

What should I send with my enquiry?

Include your contact details, the property location, a short description of the work, and any timing or budget you have in mind. Photos are helpful. You can attach them to an email to info@westforge.ca.

What happens if you uncover damage during the renovation?

Hidden damage may mean the scope of work needs to change. We’ve handled projects where a renovation uncovered repairs behind the walls, including an exterior wall damaged by a tub leak. During your home visit, ask us how potential discoveries and changes would be handled for your project.

Can I contact you after the job is finished?

Yes. We stand behind our work and want to hear from you if you have a concern. Many of our clients stay in touch for years, returning for other projects and referring family members. Ask us about the warranty details for your work when we discuss the estimate.

Still have a question?

Ask us directly.

You don’t need to have all the answers before getting in touch. Call or text 587-938-2592, or send us a few details about your project.
